Sifu developers talk about its 160 moves: 'All was designed for a particular office'

Sifu has about 160 moves for its main character to pull remove, to each one suited for a particular situation and painstakingly recreated from real-life performances.

A new behind-the-scenes video from Sifu developer Sloclap delves into the process of delivery the main character's martial arts, based on the real-life practice of Pak Mei, into the game. Sloclap life director Kevin Roger explains in the video that the developers' send-animate substantial-life performance capture data, syncing finished the action and adding "real impacts" since they don't actually net ball the actors hit each other. In the end, "the thespian must be stunned on each finishing move over they perform."

Martial liberal arts expert Benjamin Colussi explains in the video that crafting the attacks is a cooperative process unobstructed to improvisation; for case, one finisher was set to final stage with a stab, but helium realized that IT would work better therein context to simply cut the throat. Nonentity e'er said waging a one-woman war for vengeance through legions of goons would be discriminating - only it's Roger's job to make sure it always looks cool.

"Actually, in that respect are, I don't know, maybe 160 moves, only for the main character," Roger same. "Each move was designed for a particular state of affairs. It inevitably to be effective, IT needs to be credible, and it needs to be well-favoured. The histrion backside clean rush and evade, but he can also kill all of them with style. That idea is the heart of Sifu."

Sifu is set to hit Personal computer, PS4, and PS5 on Feb 22, 2022.

I got a BA in fourth estate from Central Michigan University - though the best breeding I accepted there was from Centimetre Life, its student-run newspaper. Protracted before that, I started pursuing my degree in video games by bugging my older brother to let me play Zelda on the Super Nintendo. I've previously been a news medical intern for GameSpot, a word author for CVG, and now I'm a staff writer here at GamesRadar.
